Passing through them ensures you increase adrenaline
Want to make an exciting journey by car, which can raise your adrenaline. We offer you 6 routes at different points on the planet, passing through which will surely be quite exciting and at times very dangerous.
The widest road in the world
The main contenders for this title are road 401 in the province of the Canadian province of Ontario and the Katie highway, which is part of the Interstate 10 motorway in the US state of Texas and connected Houston and the small town of Katie. Road № 401, also known as the Macdonald-Cartier Freeway, extends between Windsor and Quebec and consists of 22 lanes – 18 basic and 3 spares. It is also the busiest route in North America, with 400,000 vehicles being transported daily. The Katie Road is actually a highway with 26 lanes, but the main ones are only 12. On each side, there are 4 additional roads and 3 control lanes.
The drunken bridge
The western section of Norwegian Atlantic Road connects the continent with the island of Avero, passing through the Storsaisundet Bridge. It is actually the longest of the eight bridges that are part of a highway. Its length is 260 meters, but that’s not the most important thing. In some places, the road is a thrill that can make you feel holy. On the side, the bridge is more like a Disneyland than a road construction.. That’s why it got its name – “Drunken Bridge”.
The road with 99 turns
The road from the Chinese palace Changzhou to Tiananmen Mountain is known as the Big Gate Road, but many call it “The Way to Heaven.” Its lowest point is 200 meters above sea level, and the highest is at 1300 meters. On the way to the cave at the top, 99 turns should be made. Climbing can also be done on foot, and then 999 stairs have to be overcome.
The shortest route between the Chilean port of San Antonio and the Argentine province of Mendoza is the Paso-de-Los-Caracoles road (the Snake Road). The difference in altitude is 2400 meters – from 800 meters you climb to 3200 meters, but this is not the biggest problem. For the most part, the road is covered with snow and ice and the driver has to cross 29 turns.
The Ice Road
In fact, ice roads are not a very rare phenomenon, especially for the inhabitants of the North. One of them, however, is very dangerous – this is the road between the Canadian towns of Inuik and Tucktjakutk with a length of 130 km (80 miles). It passes along the Mekenzie River, offering many turns and keeps the driver in tension until the end of the journey.
The Longest Straight Way
Imagine driving 256 km ( 159 miles) without a turn. This offers Highway 10 in Saudi Arabia, which starts from the ancient city of Harad and passes through the desert. All the time, about 2 hours, it’s just going straight, with the view being the same, and that’s certainly pretty depressing and making the trip uncomfortable. In Australia, too, there is such a road – the Air Road, which was considered the world’s longest route. However, it is slightly shorter than in Saudi Arabia.
